Department of Liberal Studies

Liberal Studies is a department within the School of Business and Economics. The department offers soft skills that enable individuals to adapt and align themselves in a dynamic environment of a rapidly developing socio-economic world.

The department services all the other departments in the University through the teaching of communication skills and life skills. All the students in the University from Certificate to Degree level are taught communication skills in their first semester of the first year. Diploma and certificate courses examined by KNEC are also taught Life Skills in their first semester of the first year.

Masters degree in a relevant field from a University recognized by CUE and the University Senate.

Master of Science in

Development Studies

Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class honours (Upper Division) in any discipline or its equivalent from an institution recognized by CUE and the University Senate; OR Be a holder of a Bachelors degree with Lower Second Class honours in any discipline provided the candidate can show proven evidence of research ability or three (3) years relevant experience in a relevant field.

Two (2) Academic years

Bachelor of Science  in

Criminology and

Security Studies

K.C.S.E. Mean Grade C+ with a minimum of C in English or Kiswahili; OR Diploma in Criminology and Security studies; OR a relevant three (3) year Diploma from an Institution recognized by CUE and the University Senate.

Bachelor of Public

Relations and Strategic

Communication 

K.C.S.E. Mean Grade C+ with a minimum of C+ in English or Kiswahili; OR a relevant three (3) year Diploma from an Institution recognized by CUE and the University Senate.

Studies

K.C.S.E. Mean Grade C+ with a minimum of C+ in English or Kiswahili; OR a relevant three (3) year Diploma from an Institution recognized by CUE and the University Senate.
